DistroWatch Weekly reports on one of the first (the first?) release of a premade LiveDVD which includes multiple Linux LiveCDs. Included on the 4+ GB ISO download is Knoppix, Ubuntu Dapper, Livux, PCLinuxOS, SimplyMEPIS, SystemRescueCD, Puppy Linux, Elive, and Damn Small Linux.

Ubuntu Dapper Flight 6 Available for Download
While it doesn’t appear to be officially announced yet, Dapper Flight 6 has been posted to download mirrors. There are many LiveCD improvements, including NetworkManager by default, and an improved Espresso installer. Lots of screenshots of the improved installer, along with other improvements to the hard drive install version of Ubuntu have been posted.

SLAX 5.0.8 Released
SLAX is announcing that version 5.0.8 is out. Unlike the last release, all the different SLAX versions (frodo, killbill, popcorn) have been updated, and the long awaited SLAX Server Edition has been released too. All include the 2.6.16 kernel.
MEPIS Linux and Ubuntu/Canonical
NewsForge is reporting that the first test release of MEPIS Linux based on Ubuntu packages has been released. The collaboration of two great desktop-oriented Linux distros should bring some interesting results. Currently downloads are only available to the MEPIS subscribers.

DistroWatch Weekly reviews the pre-release LiveDVD of Knoppix 5.0. After reading this review, it sounds like Knoppix 5.0 will be great.
If you are still using KNOPPIX 4.0.x, then prepare yourself for a major update when version 5.0 finally hits the public mirrors in the next few weeks. It’s good; in fact, it’s probably the best KNOPPIX release to-date.
